Analyst Job Description

The Analyst role is an entry-level role directed at candidates graduating college/university in 2022 or with up to 2 years' experience. As an Analyst at Altman Solon, you will be involved in every aspect of our consulting practice. While an Analyst’s specific role will vary from project to project, responsibilities include:

  • Developing novel, data-driven methodologies and owning execution of solving complex client problems
  • Building a variety of rigorous business models, market sizings, and quantitative Excel-based tools to be delivered to (and used by) clients on an on-going basis
  • Conducting research to understand market demand drivers, competitive landscapes, and technology trends; methods include state-of-the-art survey design & analysis as well as primary interviews with subject matter experts
  • Assisting with synthesis and presentation of key findings and recommendations to our clients
  • Developing content-specific knowledge that will continue to expand and evolve through your time at Altman Solon

  • Developing novel, data-driven methodologies and owning execution of solving complex client problems
  • Building a variety of rigorous quantitative tools leveraging Excel and Tableau to be delivered to (and used by) clients on an on-going basis. This may include:
    • Market Sizings: Identify, measure, and quantify marketplace issues and opportunities including market size, share, and growth potential for the client’s business
    • Go-to-Market Plans: Identify, develop, and evaluate strategies based on company objectives, market characteristics, customer demographics, economic conditions, and geographic particularities
    • Financial Analyses: Analyze financial statements and annual reports of the client and competitors to inform financial stability and project the best financial course of action to grow the business
    • Business Plan Assessments: Create business plans, business cases, and financial models to help the client understand their revenue and profitability, and paths to achieve overall business growth

The Senior Consultant role is a mid-level role and is open to professionals with 1+ years post-M.B.A. or equivalent work experience. As a Senior Consultant at Altman Solon, you will play a critical role in leading teams through project analyses, formulating recommendations, and presenting findings to clients. Responsibilities include:

  • Guiding day-to-day activities of one or more project workstreams, typically owning a workstream while also managing teams of analysts and consultants across a variety of activities, including:
    • Market sizing, business model development, and other quantitative analyses
    • Primary and secondary research, including survey design and analysis and interviews with subject matter experts
    • Development of original frameworks and strategies including customer segmentation, go-to-market strategies, churn reduction initiatives, etc.
  • Assuming a key role with clients as day-to-day contact, ensuring we are providing innovative and actionable solutions to their most critical problems
