Wednesday morning dawned bright and beautiful, and after hustling through some Black Belt cases in the morning, we again hit the road – but not without some inner-city Captain Buzzy’s coffee to keep us company and our "mobile office" fully hooked up, WiFi and all.

After arriving in DC with a remarkably minimal amount of traffic, we camped out at Georgetown Cupcake and noshed some seriously awesome Red Velvet, double butterscotch, and their Facebook Freebie of the day - Vanilla Hazelnut - muffins. Yummity yum!

We balanced out the calories with a Cali-style fresh and local burrito, complete with tasty hard and crunchy thick bacon.

We then met up with Career Services at Georgetown – the only campus on this tour where a student service, not a student group, specifically organized the event.

We had a great discussion with senior staff about building a consulting culture on campus, and are excited to partner with them in the future to advance the prestige of Georgetown – which is currently a core school for Big 4 firms and peripheral school for Top 3 (all of whom do recruit there to different degrees).

Well, it’s not for any lack of smarts – that’s for sure! The Georgetown students impressed us with their questions –“How do I demonstrate that I’m amazing without bragging?” – was one of our favorites.  (Check out our Facebook page for the answer, by the way.) In fact, the group asked us some of the hardest and best questions of the whole week.

It was refreshing to see students of all ages interested in what really goes on behind the veil of a consulting firm. One of our core messages that seemed to really make an impression was that consulting isn’t academic, but rather almost simplistically practical.

Favorite quote of the night – “This just got real. You kind of scared me, but now I do really understand what the stakes are and what it will take to get there.”

After sharing conversations not only about applications, but also about social justice and the best time as a woman to shave your head (I shaved mine right after college), we hit the road again. Yes, Jenny Rae’s parents live in PA, so we rolled in way after our bedtime and crashed hard after finishing a few final edits late that night.

Stay tuned for the Thursday edition of the East Coast Tour recap...
