FORVIS History

The FORVIS history begins with the founding of Baird, Kurtz & Dobson in 1922, an accounting firm whose three namesakes left their previous firms to open two initial Missouri offices. The firm’s early growth was stalled by the Great Depression but then accelerated following World War II. The 1965 passage of the Medicare Act led the firm to focus more on healthcare, which remains its most important industry. Baird, Kurtz & Dobson continued growing throughout the 1970s and 1980s, establishing several more offices throughout the Southern and Central US. After passing $100 million in revenue in 1999, the firm merged with Olive LLP to form BKD, LLP, which instantly became the 8th biggest accounting firm in the US. Growth continued, with the firm having established offices in 41 US states by 2016 and acquiring several other accounting firms over that time. In 2022, BKD, LLP merged with Dixon Hughes Goodman to form FORVIS.
